But I DO dream a highway.
So, Blogger wouldn’t let me use my usual username–idreamahwy–in my URL, despite all evidence showing that it’s not in usage by someone else. This irks me. I came up with that moniker based upon one of my favorite Gillian Welch songs–it’s perfect because the song is just so meaningful to me, plus I could incorporate my infamous initials into it. So, I just had to go with the standard first-and-middle-names-all-smirshed-together.
Why am I here? (I’m a big fan of lists, so…)
1. Pretty much every “never” I’ve ever vowed has gone out the window since my early 20s, and I think blogging was the last frontier on that account.
2. I’ve tested the waters with MySpace, but I usually use that blog more for updates and stuff. I’m a journaler who has no time to journal now (and I fall asleep when I do, sadly), so this seemed like an appropriate place to deposit modified accounts of my day-to-day thoughts, observations, reactions, etc. I’d say it was mainly for myself, but if it really were just for me, I wouldn’t be modifying it or, well, plastering it on the internet for all to see. If you’re interested in how I am during a given week, check in here. If not, that’s cool too. Oh, and I can’t check MySpace at work, and when there’s nothing to work on at my current place of employment, there’s REALLY nothing to do. Besides talk about myself lots
.
3. I want to write someday. I am terrified of people reading what I write. I need to get over this. Blogging is a logical first step, as it is informal and you can take it or leave it. Plus, it will help me capture some of the aforementioned thoughts for use later.
4. I have cool friends who blog. Shoutout to Emily, Mat, and another semi-anonymous friend, three of the people who’ve inspired me to just relax and start writing. Thanks, peeps.
What to expect here? I don’t know. The blog title is my typical self-deprecating effort to make you not expect too much of me so you won’t be disappointed. I hope, though, that it won’t all be mundane…I’m learning more and more that even the rote details of your today can make up the most vivid memories of your tomorrow. So, here goes nothing.
