Good people.

I’ve had a very angsty day, but I’d much rather write about something happy. Specifically, this:
From left to right are Kate O’, Ginger, Sista, Malia, and moi. These are just a few members of the stellar cast that assembled at the Flying Saucer last night. I was SUCH a dork, but they were nice to me anyway.

What these people–and so many others who drop by my little cottage in the online world–don’t realize, I’m sure, is that their blogs and their comments on my blog have been a sort of lifeline to me through a very unsure time. Thus, when I walked into the main room of the Saucer, looking, I’m sure, awkward, lost, and possibly strung out…well, I kind of was. I was nervous–these people are legends! I wanted to be their friend and for them to like me and not to do anything stupid.

The beautiful Lesley, though, apparently recognized me and waved me over to the blogger table (which of course was directly in front of me when I walked in the door). And then…I sat down and hung out with friends.

Friends.

That was cool. In addition to the above, I had the distinct pleasure of sitting beside Jeffraham, who is charming and sweet as he can be, and across from Grace, who had me sort of blogstarstruck when I found out who she was. I got to have a real conversation with Malia, whom I’ve always felt sort of “closer” to, as her sister Emily is a friend in “real life.” I got to hug Ginger and hear her wonderful giggle.

It was also a pleasure to meet Chris Wage, whose talent I’ve admired for a long time. The way he sees the world through a camera lens is inspiring, and he’s a neat guy in person, too. (My apologies to Chris for smiling directly into the camera–I won’t do it again, promise.) And Jim Reams claimed to stalk me on Twitter, but I had to remind him I followed him first, so it was most definitely the other way around. He seemed okay with that.

Since we had a long table and it was a loud place, I didn’t get to talk much to Lesley, Sista Smiff, Linda, and Holiday Grinch. I will say, though, that we all combined made a pretty amazing trivia team.

To everyone–thanks. I’m sure I made it obvious that I am a total introvert, but trust me–that was me having fun :) .

I’m glad you had such a good time… that feeling where you go from nervous newcomer to friend is a good one.

I would love to meet the friends I have made blogging. Blogging has been a lifeline for me as well…… thanks for sharing that. Now I don’t feel odd. Wellllllll AS odd, I should say

I’m behind in blog reading this week…

It was wonderful to finally meet you in person Tuesday night! And you were NOT a dork! I was a bit blogstarstruck with Grace, too. That was my first time meeting her as well and I was floored that she remembered that is was me who had commented about knowing her boss.

That was a very fun night, I wish I could have stayed longer. We’ll definitely get together again, and like Ginger said, in a quieter atmosphere more conducive to actual conversation!
